Why and How do People Cheat in Videogames ?

When we play a game , we have to stick to its rules. Once we are in the magic circle of a game , all the players sign invisible contract to obey the rules and play honestly.

When some of the player feel bored or less skilled than the others, they try to cheat in order to win. Hackers, aim bots or team killers - they all try to sabotage the game or win it.
Mostly, people cheat when they play action or adventure video games, where you have to kill the others and in the same time protect yourself from killing. There are certain tricks the player use.
  • Aim-bots - Most often aimbots do everything that usually the player has to do on his own. The only thing one has to do is to move his character in order to see where the other players are.
  • Wall hacks - It enables the player to see through walls and objects, find the other players easily and kill them.
  • Speed hacks - It makes the player faster than the others and gives him priority to the others.
  • Cheat codes - They are hidden in the game and can be activated when the player press certain keyboard buttons. There are various codes one can write and make his character better than others, develop it.
There are people called hackers, who deliberately hack the system and disturb the game.
There are also team killers , who pretend to be part of a team and play for it, but actually play in order to make their team lose.
The glitch hunters try to make an error in the game, which usually happens within the system and it is a programme's error.
When people cheat in games, they lose the pleasure of the deserved win at the end. Some may feel empowered and superior to the other players but they show only lack of confidence in their own skills or unwillingness to stick to already settled rules.
